Ways to Embrace an Attitude of Gratitude

This is the time of year when we should have the presence of mind to be thankful. Too often we get caught up in the day to day movement of life and fail to remember the blessings that got us where we are today. An entire year goes by before we know it and it is easy to forget those who have been there for us along the way. By the same token, it's a time to be remembered for the wonderful acts of kindness that we have bestowed on others. It is important to not lose sight and to show our gratitude. When we give we also receive, because an offering of any kind to another person is a gift that should be remembered and appreciated.

I have friends who give thought each year as to how they might show those around them how grateful they are. They throw a theme party. One year was Love; another was Peace and this year it is Gratitude. It is a unique and special way to give thanks to a group of people, no matter the number of guests.

Here are some ways you might want to use to express gratitude this season of Thanksgiving:

    • Create an altar or sacred space for your gratitude and light a candle in honor of those special people in your life.
    •  Throw your own gratitude party. Whether it is large or intimate, it will be a rewarding experience of bonding in the blessings of family and friends.
    •  Make a list of the people you wish to thank and perform a random act of kindness in their name. Be sure to include a card or note to them to tell them you are doing this.

These are just a few ways to remember to thank those who have helped us, stood by us, and were there with their support. it doesn't matter whether that support was in a text, in person or on social media. It is the message and the person it came from that we should remember in thanks.

Adopt the attitude of gratitude and you are likely to feel a peaceful calm wash over you as you will usher in a season of positive energy through thanks.
